What a Great – SAFE – Week!

For the third year in a row everyone at ICL Boulby – from top to bottom – has been put through their safety paces.

We’re not talking about a health and safety risk assessment form-filling exercise. Not a bit of it. We’re talking about getting stuck in to activities such as archery, laser clay pigeon shooting and wall climbing!

From last Monday to Friday it’s the latest in a week-long series of events held in the Dome and the engineering workshop where everybody is encouraged to focus on safety – their own and that of others.

“It is a great day and really useful – I really enjoy it,” said Brad, an overseer.  “Obviously there’s the fun part of it, but the key is that we have to focus on safety and that is vitally important at a mine.”

The safety week is a company-wide initiative involving forty-two sites across fifteen countries. Boulby site Vice President and General Manager Andrew Fulton was on hand to drive home the message: “ Remember – everyone has a right to head home safely at the end of their shift – especially at this time of year when friends and family are so important. You work hard so play hard – but remember – safety first, last and always.”

Here are some photos to show how you all got stuck in…
