East Cleveland Mining Museum Celebrates Successful Renovation

ICL Boulby’s long-standing dedication to supporting the mining museum was evident in their swift response to assist with the museums North Drift renovation.

In a heart-warming display of partnership and generosity, the Land of Iron Museum has expressed its gratitude towards ICL Boulby and AMCO for their invaluable support in renovating the historic North Drift. This collaboration has not only made the area safe for tourists to explore but has also preserved a crucial part of mining history for future generations to experience.

Working closely with companies such as TR Fabrications, DSI Underground, Champion Contracting Services and AmcoGiffen, they provided essential steel supports and installation services at no cost to the museum, ensuring the safety and accessibility of the drift. In addition, efforts to comply with legislative requirements, such as sourcing and supplying ventilation equipment, further underscored the commitment to creating a safe and engaging experience for visitors.

Marie Woods, Chief Executive of the mining museum gives thanks; “In December, the North Drift passed the Mine Inspector visit. This would not have been possible without the support, hard work and dedication shown to us by Boulby and others who got involved. I cannot thank them enough for all that they have done for us here at the museum.”
